ABOUT THE MUSIC BOX PROJECT
Welcome to St Cecilia's Music Box! This mobile display unit was created by University of Edinburgh students in partnership with St Cecilia's Hall to bring together all our amazing digital resources in one interactive display. Two MSc students from the Edinburgh College of Art's Collections and Curation programme put together this information, built a 3D model of a mute violin, and commissioned this display cart created by (design student's name here - ask him). We used resources from Ucreate studios as well as St Cecilia’s amazing staff.
St Cecilia's is involved with many fascinating digital projects. From virtual reality to 3D modeling, and the creation of a sound library by Dr Martin Parker.
This digital display focuses on one of the most mysterious instruments in the collection: the famous “Violin Without Sides”. With the help of a 3D printed copy and an interactive 3D digital display, we wish to make you participate in the quest to find out why, how, when, by whom this instrument was made. Research has been done by St Cecilia’s Hall Conservator Jonathan Santa Maria Bouquet, in collaboration with S. Kirsch, M. Albano, A. Rigamonti [is it possible to add a link that redirects to the paper or is it not published yet?].
But we are just at the beginning!
